I swear summer gets shorter every year. May be it’s because the kids are getting older and doing things with their friends more than with us. We still go on vacations as a family but out oldest is traveling more to see her long-time boyfriend now living a state away. And our youngest is hanging out with her friends a little more than she use to. It’s a good but, sometimes I miss having them with me all the time.
With one kid in her second year of college and one in her Senior year of high school, we took full advantage of them both wanting to hang out with us this summer. We went to Denver for a week, went to the Aquarium, museums and ate at some great restaurants. Salt Lake City was our next trip, we love it here and enjoy every minute we are there. I love walking downtown in the evenings, the old court house is my favorite and Temple Square is breathtaking!! Hermitage park was a great place to relax and enjoy some ice cream.
We went to South Dakota, we love Spearfish Canyon! I could live there every summer. The weather is perfect, usually and the views are absolutely beautiful! I love going to all the waterfalls through the valleys. And out last trip was to Arizona! Have you ever seen the cactus there…they are literally huge. And a little scary. Lol! The Jeep tours are insane, hot but fun. A couple if times I could have sworn we were going to end up falling out of the seats! It was a blast.
Now, we are back to reality and it kinda sucks! Lol I wish we couple live like it was summer with no cares year round but, life doesn’t work like that. Girls are back in school, hubby is back at work and I’m back to cleaning and cooking! Don’t get me wrong, I love my life and family but, I wish we could travel a little more all year. I guess with the youngest graduating this year…hubby and I could take off on some mini vacations next year. I’m gonna have to plan a couple trips for just us!
I hope everyone enjoyed their summers and was able to get a little bit of a vacation with the family! I hope this school year is a breeze for the kids and no one brings home the flu the first couple weeks back…wishful thinking I know! We had a blast and it was much needed for us! Back to the grind of mom life!
