If you lived in or near Brandon/Tampa FL back in the early 2000s you might have gone to Celebration Station to play in the arcade or drive the go-carts. MOSI is still going strong and one of the coolest places to take your kids for a full day of adventure! We did both places with the kids and always had a blast!
The first time we took the kids to Celebration Station was also the first time my parents got to meet the kids. My dad was like a kid in the candy store playing all the games and putt putt golf with them. And I can promise the kids had just as much fun as he did. The laughter was loud and the smiles were big! It is a day that I will always remember!
They had a climbing obstacle course through most of the building. The kids ran through that thing a hounded times, then talked my husband into going up with them. They tried really hard to get my dad up there but, he never gave in. I went up with them once, I might only be 5’1 on a good day but still too tall trying to get through that thing.
I cherish the pictures from that day, all the kids were so little and I still looked young…lol! We all played till we couldn’t play anymore. We played putt putt golf and got on the bumper boats a couple times. The kids rode the rides, ate too much pizza and cashed in all their tickets for candy. HaHa! The kids talked about how much fun they had the whole ride home. And immediately started asking when we would be going back.
MOSI! Now, that place is amazing. For kids and parents alike. You can spend all day there and still miss one of the attractions they have. The attractions change every couple of months and there is never a dual one. The Butterfly attraction was my oldest daughter’s favorite! She asked nearly every weekend if we could go when it was there.
The best thing we did was buy year passes for all of us. The older girls loved the Weather Attraction all about hurricanes and tornadoes. My step-son loved the Pirate Attraction. The hurricane tunnel was pretty cool but, if you had long hair it was definitely not something you should do without putting your hair in a bun. The oldest kid learned that quickly..haha! There was also a room that turned into an earthquake. The girls did not like it, at all!! My husband and step-son thought it was fun.
My favorite attraction was one on the power of water. My oldest absolutely loved it, she got to play in the water all day in the AC. Lol! They had games you could play that would show you the power of water and how it would move sand. There was even a fire house that mimicked the power the water had when being pressurized out of the hose. It knocked me on my butt!
We tried the Human Body attraction but, it grossed the girls out pretty quickly! HaHa. It was hilarious watching their faces when they saw the real human bodies showing the nervous system. Now, let me say we did not know that the bodies were actually real until we had walked in and started the attraction. However, I felt like an idiot when we left because all the signs stated the bodies were real. What a way to traumatize the older girls!
I’m kidding, they were not traumatized…they were however definitely grossed out! They did good once we got to the skeleton part of the attraction. It was fun watching them see something they had only seen in books at school. To see them read the information on how the muscles worked to move the body and then watch them move their own bodies while feeling their muscles, was funny and so cool to watch the light bulb go off!
Weather they want to admit it or not, they learned a lot in all those trips to MOSI! And they had so much fun. I have the pictures to prove it! It was either the first or second trip to MOSI and I felt awful the whole time. Nausea, dizzy just plain nasty all the way around. I stopped on the way home and grabbed a pregnancy test…Thats the day we found out our second daughter was on the way!
We had to drive two separate cars because we didn’t have room with a car seat in my truck for everyone. It was oldest kids idea to stop to get a test, she was living with us at the time and swore she just “knew” I was pregnant not sick like I thought. So, to appease her and ease my mind we stopped. To say she was excited that she was right, was an understatement! And she made sure to remind me she was right at least once a week!
